While the creative genius of the FaceTime commercial is being celebrated and lauded for it’s emotional connection, Consumer Reports has been in a test lab criticizing iPhone 4’s network connection. Consumer Reports struck a big blow to Apple today by publicizing their inability to support or endorse iPhone 4 after extensive testing.

Post launch the iPhone 4 death grip was identified as a design flaw. This death grip causes the iPhone 4 to lose reception when touching the left side of the antennae. Apple’s initial response was a smug, “don’t hold it that way or buy a case.” While Apple is a marketing machine, they are facing more than PR issues at this point regarding the launch of the iPhone 4. Apple released a software update that would reportedly fix the way the signal was being displayed, resolving the issue. That was debunked as misleading.
